Welcome to Club-Sites.com a hosting website for sports teams of all sizes

Loading images on to AOL

What you need open on your PC :

  • A signed on AOL session
  • Windows explorer or another tool, so you can view your PC
  • Two Internet Explorer (IE) sessions

What you need to do :
  • Find an image on your PC that you want to load on to the net ie. C:/MyPic.gif
  • You will need to know your AOL user sign-on, lets say its JoeBloggs so your e-mail would be JoeBloggs@aol.com.
  • In one IE session, enter this in to the address, changing JoeBloggs to your AOL sign-on
    ftp://members.aol.com/JoeBloggs
This will connect you to your free AOL web space.
  • Now using your mouse, right-click on the image/file on your PC, we are using MyPic.gif, and then select Copy
  • Now back in your first IE session, on the right-hand side of the screen, do another right-click with your mouse and select Paste.
  • Still in the first IE session, you should now see MyPic.gif on the list of files.
  • Now in the second IE session, enter the following in the address
    http://members.aol.com/JoeBloggs/MyPic.gif
where you change JoeBloggs to your User-name and MyPic.gif to the name of your image and you should be able to see your picture.

This now means, that this picture can be viewed by anyone on the internet. Now you can use this address on your system or send it to someone so they can view the picture.

AOL users can set up to 7 screen-names. With the primary one, the above process works but we have encountered probelms attempting to load images on to the other six. The following should resolve that probelm.
  • A process to overcome this error :
An error occured copying a file to the FTP Server.Make sure you have permission to put files on this server. Details: 200 Type set to I. 200 PORT command successful. 550 Only incoming directories are guest writable.
  • Enter the following in to the address of an IE session:
    ftp://members.aol.com
  • Still in IE, click on the File command in the top left hand corner and then select Login As...
  • Within the subsequent pop-up, click Log on anonymously.
  • Then enter the full e-mail address for the screen-name you have signed on as (inlcuding the "@aol.com") and click the Log On button.
  • Now close down every IE session you have open, this doesn't include the AOL session, you'll still need that signed on.
  • Now open a new IE session and re-enter :
    ftp://members.aol.com

You will now be in your webspace and should resolve the above area.
I hope you found that free and easy, if you've had trouble, then contact Club-Sites.Com by clicking here and we'll be more than happy to help you out.
